Arian Breweries & Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. becomes Mahou India Pvt. Ltd.

Dare Devil is re-launched with its new image and the first Mahou 5 Star is produced in our factory in Alwar, Rajasthan.

First international subsidiary

Mahou San Miguel establishes its first subsidiary outside Spain with the acquisition of 100% of Arian Breweries & Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. in India.

Arrival in India

We reach a joint venture agreement with India's Arian Breweries & Distilleries Pvt. Ltd.

2011

We diversify with Solán de Cabras

Solán de Cabras joins our company, strengthening our beverage portfolio with its brand of water and soft drinks.

2007

Incorporation of Cervezas Alhambra

Cervezas Alhambra becomes part of our company. That same year, all our breweries are certified with the EMAS environmental certification.

2000

Mahou San Miguel is born

Mahou acquires San Miguel, a company that was founded in Manila in 1890 and which had been established in Spain since 1957. Thus the first 100% Spanish owned beer company is created:
Mahou San Miguel.

1990

Construction begins at the Alovera Brewery

Work begins at our brewing centre in Alovera (Guadalajara), a project that involves the most modern industrial techniques at that time. That same year Laiker is launched, today's alcohol-free Mahou.

1969

Launch of Mahou Cinco Estrellas

In order to satisfy the most discerning palates, Mahou Cinco Estrellas, our flagship brand, is launched. A high quality and extremely popular product, characterised by its aroma and character.

1966

Introduction of draft beer dispensing systems

The installation of modern beer dispensing and refrigeration systems increases the sales of draft beer. It is worth noting here that Mahou was the first Spanish company to introduce aluminium barrels, replacing wooden ones.

1962

First beer brewed at Paseo Imperial

On the 15th May, 1962 – feast day of Saint Isidore, the farmer - the first batch of beer is brewed at the new factory. Designed to produce 500,000 hectolitres annually, it was already producing
one million by 1970.

1961

Construction of the Paseo Imperial Brewery

The Amaniel brewery could not meet the growing demand so construction of a new production centre begins in the Paseo Imperial, in what was then the outskirts of Madrid. The old brewery stops activities three years later.

1957

Hijos de Casimiro Mahou becomes Mahou, S.A.

After the difficult post-war years, Mahou experienced a spectacular revival and in 1957 it became a public limited company under the current name of Mahou, S.A.

1891

Mahou beer is brewed for the first time at the Amaniel Brewery

On the 1st February 1891, the brewing of beer begins at the production centre in Amaniel Street in Madrid; construction had taken just over a year. The technology used then was
mostly of German origin.

1890

"Hijos de Casimiro Mahou" is founded

Our origin is in Madrid, where the siblings Alfredo, Enrique, Luis and Carolina Mahou Solana establish the company "Hijos de Casimiro Mahou", dedicated to the production of beer and ice.
